Blame the Pink Fugitive

I attempted to start a blog last year in our apartment in Kathmandu. The night I failed to start this very blog was the night that Julie and I discovered that we would become parents. We were up late. Kara was at our apartment acting crazy as usual and getting Julie all amped up. Kara was reading out loud to Julie from a book listing all of the signs that indicate when someone is living inside of you. As she read down the list Julie's pitch and nervous laughter exponentially intensified. Kara mirrored her reactions. I kept peering up over the top of our laptop with big eyes and a lump in my throat every time Julie confirmed another sign that a pink fugitive was on board. So Juls and I went in to the bathroom to gather some scientific data. When the test read positive we were dumbfounded. It was if God had visited us himself. Maybe he had.

From that moment on our life together has been a flash: two months in Galle, Sri Lanka building houses for tsunami victims; packing up our life in Kathmandu after two years of service with Word Made Flesh in Nepal; moving back to Kentucky; and bringing Finley David d'Argy Neher into the world. It has been an inimitable year.

So the blog will finally begin.

Glad to see this up and running. I know you actually started this a year ago, but you have been so busy with me and Fin that you had to put it off. Not to mention I am always on the computer playing games. Ha ha. I love you. You are the best hubby and daddy.
